Both fatalism and determinism as philosophical theories pertain to the effort of trying to arrive at the idea of how the ends of our lives are determined by forces other than ourselves. However, the key difference between the two lies in terms of the fact of how the direction of our lives is determined. In spite of this, both the theories are unanimously against the notion of freewill or the possibility of individuals acting as a conscious agent on his own. Even then, while fatalism refers to a condition under which individuals believe that they are powerless to determine the course of their lives and what is destined to happen will happen no matter what he does, determinism refers to a condition that there is essentially a cause for everything, thus whatever happens is essentially a result of our past actions.
